Port Rack Backpacks that hold skateboards Feature Image

There are two things we particularly love, skateboarding and backpacks that hold skateboards… who doesn’t love a backpack with skateboard straps? So if you’re looking for backpacks that hold skateboards, you’ve come to the right place. We share our seven favourite backpacks that hold skateboards to help you decide. These are mostly backpacks with skateboard straps except for the Reppo bag that fully encloses your skateboard.

What we look for:

  1. It’s got to be durable. You want it to handle anything you throw at it or that you throw it at. The front especially needs to take grip tape constantly rubbing against it.
  2. It needs to be up to the job. It’s got to carry what you need the way you want them carried.
  3. It’s got to fit your style. Even if you won’t admit you have a style. You’ve got to love it or you won’t want to keep using it.

All our featured backpacks that hold skateboards are durable and up to the job so all you need to decide is if they carry the way you want and if the style fits.

So, in no particular order:

Independent Skate Pack Bag

If you skate then you know Indy trucks. Well, it turns out their bags aren’t too shabby either. The Independent Skate Pack Bag holds your skateboard in a vertical position, strapped to the front with two velcro straps. Inside the large main compartment is plenty of space for your gear and a good selection of mesh pockets to help you organise your things. In addition to the main compartment, you’ll find a separate compartment closer to your back, perfect for stashing a 13 inch laptop.

The straps are connected to a hip panel on the sides that helps keep the bag close to your back by wrapping around hips. There is also a water bottle holder on the side and additional zippered pockets to stash smaller items that you need to easily access. The front logo is woven on so it’s not going to rub off from your board grip.

Independent Container Backpack

Another offering from Indy is the Independent Container Backpack. This bag holds your skateboard in a vertical position strapped to the front with an adjustable strap. The main compartment is accessed by a butterfly top zip opening that makes the inside like a large bucket. You can also get into the main compartment with zip on the back which makes it easy to access things lower down in your bag.  This bag can hold around 20L so it’s bigger than your average pack and will hold everything you need for your day plus a bit more.

The shoulder straps are fully adjustable and the back features plenty of padding for a comfortable fit. Add to this a front pocket for smaller items, water bottle mesh pockets on the sides and durable abrasion resistance materials and you’ve got yourself a great bag. The front logo is woven on as well so it’s not going to rub off.

Nike SB RPM Backpack

We really love this backpack. It looks great and is packed full of features. The Nike SB RPM Backpack holds your skateboard vertically on the front with adjustable velcro straps. The front is covered in MOLLE webbing should you need to attach other items to the front.

Underneath are two handy adjustable straps so you can strap things to bottom of your bag (including your skateboard) or use as compression straps. This is a really useful feature you’ll find yourself using a lot.

Inside the bag, the main compartment has a good selection of smaller pockets to store your stuff. Additionally, there’s a laptop pocket that is separate to the main compartment. This will fit up to a 15 inch laptop.

On either side of the bag are zippered pockets to stash frequently used smaller items that you need to access quickly. There is also a hidden zippered pocket on the top near to the back that is good for storing items more securely.

The padded shoulder straps are contoured to give a comfortable fit and a sternum strap is provided for extra stability. The back is padded and is breathable for extra comfort.

The bag is made from tough polyester that is water resistant to keep your stuff dry. The MOLLE webbing on the front also helps stop your board grip rubbing against the bag.

This bag comes in a great selection of colours so you be able find one that suits your style.

Carhart WIP Kickflip

Carhart are well known for combining workwear and style, and have a reputation for being tough and durable.

The Carhart WIP Kickflip is made from Carhart’s ‘Duck Canvas’ which is durable and water resistant. Your skateboard is attached to vertically to the front of this bag with adjustable straps and clips. There is also an elasticated cord so you can hold other items on the front such as a helmet when you’ve not got a board attached.

Your skateboard attaches vertically to the front using the adjustable velcro straps. Inside, the main compartment is large enough for all your everyday items and there’s even a neoprene lined pocket for your laptop.

Durable ballistic abrasion-resistant 1000D fabric features on this bag with a PVC vinyl reinforcement on the front for extra strength.

This bag looks simple but it’s made really well, using strong materials and double stitching. This is a good all rounder with style, simplicity and durability perfectly combined.

If you want to keep your skateboard totally covered then this is the backpack for you. The Reppo Skateboard bag keeps your board away from the elements and keeps it safe when you’re travelling. On the inside, there is one large compartment that fits your skateboard but there is also room for a change of clothes (if you don’t mind them touching your board) and other small items that can be stored in a small zippered pocket. On the front is another zippered pocket to stash more items.

This bag can be carried over the shoulder using a single strap or used as backpack with the padded shoulder straps. All the straps can be concealed and tucked away when not in use – this is particularly handy when travelling.

If you’re travelling with your board and need to keep it safely concealed, then this is bag is a great option.
